Do you use natural organic products? Are natural organic products different from ordinary ones? Do we know how natural organic products help sustain a healthy environment?

No. But this is what pundits say.

However, the processes between the two are different. We know that the processes involved in organic farming help the environment.

For starters, let us define organic. Farmers grow organic products without chemicals. They don’t use synthetic fertilizers. The farmers used natural fertilizers. They also used compost and animal manure to fertilize the soil.

Organic farmers use their hands to pluck the weeds out of the soil. Non-organic farming involves the use of herbicides to get rid of weeds. And speaking of pests, non-organic farming uses pesticides. Farmers of organic products use birds and insect traps.

Organic farmers feed the animals with natural food. They treat diseases with natural methods. They sell these organic livestock in farmer’s markets.

The livestock has access to nature. On the other hand, typical animal farming involves the use of feeds. They do so for faster growth. They use harmful medicines to prevent and cure diseases.

How do we prove that natural organic products are helpful to the planet? What facts support the claim? Below are the four ways how natural organic products help sustain a healthy environment!

1. Natural Organic Products Prevent Soil and Water Ruin

Farmers using the organic method don’t use pesticides and herbicides. Both of these contain chemicals that degrade the soil. They are poisons that can kill small animals. But they cannot kill humans. These chemicals seep through the soil and they get into water systems.

Healthy plants require healthy soil. The ones you see in organic food shops are healthy. This is because they came from fertile soil. Soil loses its lushness due to chemical abuse. Compost and animal manure rejuvenate the soil.

Infertile soil will depend on these synthetic fertilizers to grow plants. Remember, pesticides kill bacteria, including the good ones. A good soil that is rich in organic compost hosts 1 billion bacteria. These bacteria come from different species. These are the bacteria that make soil healthy.

2. Natural Organic Products Prevent Global Warming

Natural organic products don’t need chemicals. The farmers reduce the carbon footprint of their farming methods. Chemicals, if used on soil, release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Organic farming keeps the carbon dioxide in the soil. People conducted studies to prove this. It results in the reduction of carbon dioxide release. This is the same as taking out 1.1 million cars off the road.

3. Natural Organic Products Reduce Water Consumption

An organic food shop sells natural organic products. These are products that reduce water consumption. We all know that water supply is dwindling every year.

Non-organic farms contribute to water pollution. This is because of the toxic fertilizers that taint water.

Organic farmers use mulch to amend their soil. The result is organic products sold through an organic food shop. Non-organic farmers use lots of water to irrigate. It takes 1.1 gallons of water to grow one almond in a normal way. You need less water to produce an organic almond meal.

4. Natural Organic Products Promote Biodiversity

Organic farming doesn’t use chemicals that kill bacteria.  Organic farming doesn’t kill small animals. The method proves to be useful in promoting biodiversity. This is something that has a link with the rise of diseases.

What is a healthy biodiversity? It means that a balance of many species exists. They help conserve the environment. These different species produce things that another needs. You have prey and predators. This means that the ecosystem can sustain itself.

Think of a rainforest. It is the perfect example of biodiversity. The herbivores don’t run out of food. The soil is fertile.  And predators don’t run out of prey.

Summary: How Natural Organic Products Help Sustain a Healthy Environment

Many people think that organic products are a fad. As it turns out, planting using the organic method is much more sustainable than the conventional way. It is environmentally friendly, too. And the best part? The organic method supports life—both human and non-human.
